As a legal entity incorporated in the State of New Mexico in 1983, the SFWS Board of Trustees has the primary responsibility to “conduct, manage, and oversee the affairs and business of the corporation.” The purpose of this corporation is to “operate and maintain a Waldorf school… according to the educational principles of Rudolf Steiner.”
The Board and College share the management of the school’s operations. The Board is primarily responsible for financial, fiscal, and legal matters; the College is responsible for pedagogical matters, though each group supports the efforts of the other in various ways, including some joint committee work. The College of Teachers has the primary authority for implementing and overseeing all educational programs, including the hiring, evaluation, and dismissal of Faculty.
