History of the College of Teachers
The College of Teachers (“The College”) of the Santa Fe Waldorf School was inaugurated on October 6, 1990, under the guidance of the entire Pedagogical Section Council of the Anthroposophical Society. Purpose The College is the governing body of the teaching Faculty, and is charged with the following areas of responsibility: forming pedagogical policies; overseeing hiring, evaluation, professional development and dismissal of Teachers; participating in conflict resolution; parent communication; and issues of enrollment and retention in the classes. The College is the carrier of the spiritual mission of the school, is responsible for the integrity of the curriculum, and works closely with the Board and Faculty in the development of new Programs, long-range plans, and improvements to school governance. StructureThe College is composed of experienced Faculty and Staff members who are committed to the long-term vision of the school. College members must be full-time, salaried employees of the school who have been employed for at least one year, who are committed to staying at the school for the foreseeable future, who attend regular Faculty Meetings, who carry the College meditations, who support Waldorf Education, and who are open to the study of Anthroposophy.
