Parent Participation

Parent Participation - Santa Fe Waldorf Early ChildhoodParents are encouraged to participate in the life of the preschool and kindergarten through taking an interest in their children’s activities. It is also important that parents attend the four parent evenings per year. These evenings are opportunities to learn more about Waldorf education and to have meaningful discussions with other parents.

There are several festivals that parents can attend as well as children. In the fall, they are Halloween, Lantern Walk, the Holiday Faire, and the Advent Garden. In the spring, the main festival is May Faire. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend their child’s birthday celebration in the classroom.

Individual conferences, held twice a year, provide an opportunity for parents and teachers to share their observations and experiences of the child. Conferences may also be arranged as needed.

Each kindergarten and preschool class has a class parent who helps the teacher directly and by delegating to other parents to organize parents evenings, develop a phone tree, help with classroom preparation and cleaning up, and support seasonal activities and other areas where help is needed.
