SFWS Sports Booster Club
What is the Booster Club?
The Santa Fe Waldorf Sports Booster Club is a parent-run organization dedicated to supporting the school’s rapidly growing athletic program through parent volunteer involvement. Since 2011, the Club has pursued the following mission:
Athletics play a huge role in developing strong students:
The Booster Club has three main forms of fundraising - memberships passes, fan merchandise and the Wolf Pack Trail Run. All monies generated by these fundraisers go to our Booster account to be spent on the athletic program under guidance of the athletic director, coaches, and business office.
Membership Passes: Wolves fans may choose to pay gate admissions at each home game or purchase a Booster pass for the year. Fans that attend many games save money by purchasing a pass. Download a form here and return with payment to the high school office or purchase a pass right at the admissions gate at any home game.
Merchandise: The club offers t-shirts, hoodies and bumper stickers for Wolves fans. These items can be purchased at the gate of any home game.
Wolf Pack Trail Run: In 2014, the Booster Club hosted its first annual Wolf Pack Trail Run. This event is held every year in September and consists of a 5K run, 10K run, and 3K fun run through the trails of Santa Fe County’s beautiful Arroyo Hondo Open Space. Through the sponsorships of many generous local businesses, there are wonderful prizes for the top 3 male & female finishers of the 5K and 10K, plus fabulous items raffled to all participants.
Why is the Money Needed?
Shouldn’t the tuition and sports participation fees families already pay fund the athletic program? While tuition and sports fees do help fund the athletic program, they are not enough to cover all the costs of gym rental fees, referee fees, travel costs, coach stipends, and also keep up with the need for new uniforms and equipment. The Booster Club fills this gap and helps keep the cost of participation in sports accessible to all students. Below is a chart showing how the Club’s revenue for 2015-16 was divided:
With the three means of fundraising (memberships, merchandise, trail run) the Club then supported the athletic program during the 2015-16 school year in the following ways:
Scholarships to help families pay the sports participation fees
New Middle School volleyball uniforms
Hotel costs for Varsity Volleyball team at State Tournament
- Miscellaneous additional support
This was a total of almost $6000 the Sports Booster Club contributed to the Athletic Program in 2015-16! Other contributions from previous years include scholarships (for sports participation fees), basketball uniforms, volleyball uniforms, athletic equipment bags, athletic shoes, a pop-up shade tent (very important for the soccer and track teams!), and more. The extra support allows our athletes to focus on building skills and sportsmanship, without having to worry about burdening their families.
