Lily Ceremony

Waldorf schools around the world mark the beginning and end of each school year with a ceremony highlighting the passage of 1st and 12th grade students. Here we honor that passage through the exchange of a lily for the 1st grade students from the twelfth grade students.

The Santa Fe Waldorf School community is invited to celebrate our traditional Lily Ceremony. Our 12th grade students usher in the new academic year by welcoming the 1st grade students. Semi-formal attire is requested.

A Talk & Conversation with Eduardo Yi: Understanding the Incarnating Child

The image of the human being based on the Science of Anthroposophy gives rise to Waldorf Education. An education that is an art which allows for the true meeting of each individual child by asking :

  • Why do we meet the incarnating child with reverence?

  • When can we work out of imitation, authority, and guidance to enhance the natural rhythms of development?

  • How can we educate the thinking, feeling and willing to reverberate throughout the life?

Location: Grade 4 Classroom

Michaelmas

In Celtic tradition, St. Michael represents the unconquered hero, fighting against evil and the powers of darkness. The experience of nature during autumn, that of a "passing away" illuminated by brilliant color, heralds Michaelmas time. Celebrating Michaelmas, we strive to stimulate our will to fight for the good so that the children realize not even the smallest good deed is ever lost, whether it is noticed or not.

Parents and friends are invited to come to the meadow in front of Hooper Hall to enjoy a festive parade and celebrations in honor of St. Michael. Faculty and high school students will join the lower school for games and activities that afternoon.
