Grade 8 Marionette Play: Sir Gawain and the Loathly Lady

At the Santa Fe Waldorf School, the eighth grade students culminate their elementary years in Woodwork and Handwork classes by making a wooden marionette. This lengthy process includes carving each body part, measuring and making clothing for them, painting them with several layers of paint to achieve depth, making hair and accessories, and stringing and making controls. After much rehearsing, this extraordinary process is complete after a play is presented to the community.  (Thank you to SFWS parent, Andy Smith, for this wonderful video of the play.)
